KidSafe Project Society - Providing a Safe Haven for Children and Youth in Canada

When schools close, KidSafe opens. With 1 in 5 Vancouver children living in poverty, the unjust and common reality for tens of thousands of local children is that out-of-school periods are times of instability, hunger and loneliness. By supporting KidSafe, you can help provide vulnerable children with the safety, health and happiness they need and deserve. Each child is professionaly referred to KidSafe by school staff or social workers as a child in need of a safe and accessible environment while schools are traditionally closed.

KidSafe programs include Winter, Spring and Summer break programs, a multi-faceted Youth Program, and after-school programs to ensure stability year around for the children and youth we serve.

City Harvest - Rescuing Food for NYC.

From day one, City Harvest’s focus has been feeding hungry New Yorkers, neighbours helping neighbours.

City Harvest's Mission

City Harvest is New York’s first and largest food rescue organization, helping to feed millions of New Yorkers who struggle to put meals on their tables. During our 40 years serving New Yorkers in need, we have rescued more than one billion pounds of fresh, nutritious food and delivered it—free of charge—to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, community partners, and our own Mobile Markets® across the five boroughs. This year, we will rescue and distribute more than 75 million pounds of nutritious food to our neighbors in need. City Harvest works alongside our community partners to boost community capacity, expand nutrition education, and strengthen local food systems. Since our founding in 1982, City Harvest has always been there to feed our city—one day, one meal, one New Yorker at a time. To learn more, please visit cityharvest.org

City Harvest exists to end hunger in communities throughout New York City. We do this through food rescue and distribution, education, and other practical, innovative solutions.

Forty years ago, City Harvest helped start the food rescue movement when a group of New Yorkers saw that New York City had an abundance of excess food even while a large number of its residents struggled to feed themselves and their families. Since that day in 1982, we have recognized the practical purpose that this surplus food could serve if directed to New Yorkers who needed it, filling the plates of the working mom who had trouble making ends meet, the senior in the apartment upstairs living on a fixed income, or the family around the corner coping with an unexpected medical bill.
